Dubai Australia has won the T20 World Cup 2021 title. This is the first T20 World Cup for Australia, the five-time champions of the ODI World Cup. In the final played in Dubai on Sunday, the team led by Aaron Finch defeated New Zealand by eight wickets. Australia celebrated with a bang after the win. The team’s celebration continued in the airplane as well.
Australia needed 173 runs to win. Half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh and David Warner played an important role in Australia’s victory. After the win, Australian players poured champagne and beer on each other. With this victory, Australia also forgot the sorrow of defeat in five consecutive bilateral series before the T20 World Cup. Australia won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first. Captain Kane Williamson scored 85 runs in 48 balls. In response, Australia did not start well and captain Aaron Finch was dismissed after scoring just 5 runs.
After this, the pair of Mitchell Marsh and David Warner batted aggressively and took the team to the threshold of victory. Warner was bowled out for 53 but Marsh made an unbeaten 77 off 50 balls. On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell remained not out after scoring 28 runs in 18 balls.
